Thank you Betty Lou & Aneece for the wonderfully delicious Anniversary cake!

Welcome!

Please extend a warm welcome to our two new seasoned Registered Veterinary Technicians Diane Blokker and Charity Hayek. We are confident that you will find both Diane and Charity personable, compassionate, and knowledgeable. We, and the community, are fortunate to have them in Lakeside.

Dr.  Anderson health update:

On Wednesday December 1, 2010 Dr. Anderson underwent breast cancer surgery (a mastectomy), and was out of the office for approximately 3 weeks for recovery.  Veterinarian Dr. Robin Thompson filled in during this time to permit veterinary services to continue for clients, and allowed the office to remain open. We were very lucky to have the services of Dr. Thompson, an outstanding veterinarian who brings not only strong veterinary skills, but a warm, compassionate spirit as well - we cannot thank her enough for serving our clients during this difficult time.

Seventeen days later, Dr. Sandy underwent IV antibiotics for a post-operative infection, and a PICC catheter was inserted for this purpose at KRMC.  Chemotherapy was postponed and antibiotics were given daily for six weeks.  Dr. Sandy continued to work full time during this ordeal, as her health allowed.

Monday December 27, 2010, Dr. Sandy underwent a second surgery at North Valley Hospital to clean and debride the surgical site from infection, and replace the implant.  This was a "same day" surgery, and was discharged that afternoon.

Tuesday January 25, 2011 - The first day of chemotherapy for Dr. Sandy, which lasted about 5 hours, although the IV antibiotics will continue until February 4.  Another infection in mid February with subsequent oral antibiotics, lots of injections for boosting red blood cells and white blood cells, and chemotherapy side effects such as bone pain and fatigue plagued Dr. Sandy throughout the first course and second courses of chemotherapy.

Wednesday April 27, 2011 found Dr. Sandy in the emergency room with a fever of 104.7 and vomiting.  She was admitted and stayed hospitalized until May 1 with a septic bacterial infection (in the bloodstream). She returned to work briefly on Thursday, May 5th, and resumed her chemotherapy on Friday May 6th.  Thank you to veterinarian Dr. Bob Shampo from Missoula for filling in during this time of urgent need, keeping the office humming splendidly.

Friday June 17 - Dr. Sandy finished chemotherapy completely, and will be taking Tamoxifen orally for 5 years.  The residual effects of chemotherapy will last quite a while and side effects of Tamoxifen are setting in, but she is optimistic that she can maintain full working capacity without taking time off throughout the busy summer.  Her spirits remain high and we are looking forward to many, many years of cancer-free living for Dr. Anderson.

Dr Anderson, Clint, and Sonja (technician) wish to thank all of you for the phone calls of concern, prayers, prayer vigils, personal visits, flowers, plants, gift baskets, cards, letters, emails, and ready made meals. The Lakeside area is a remarkable community and we sincerely wish to thank all of you from the bottom of our hearts for the unbelievable support and caring expressed by the community during this time. You are all truly special people. Thank you everyone!

She also wishes to remind women in the community that she is willing to lend an ear if there is anyone who needs to talk, or needs emotional support during a similar cancer event.  We are all in this together!

REMEND™ Corneal Repair Drops

Virbac has extended its long-renowned excellence in dermatological care into wound care, thanks to an advanced technology that supports the natural tissue repair process in dogs and cats. We employ this technology to transform hyaluronan, a pivotal component in cell migration and wound healing, into a cross-linked gel specifically for wound care.1

Cross-linking makes our REMEND™ brand of products more stable and longer-lasting than naturally occurring hyaluronan. As a result, it provides an additional level of support to the healing process and prolongs the environment conducive to cell movement and growth.2-4 To find out more about how cross-linking enhances wound healing

"BICHON FRISE!? I wouldn't have believed it without proof! Maybe once he ATE a Bichon Frise and caught genetics like a case of stomach flu? I can see it though, in the shape of his head. Wow. He definitely has a bulldog temperament, and when he was young and fit his hind end seemed a bit small for him"

Bill Ramsell on his beloved Quinn at left. Per Quinn's breed analysis, Quinn's ancestry contains primarily Bichon Frise, Cocker Spaniel, and trace of Bulldog, Irish Terrier, and Saint Bernard.
